There is only one world to live in.
Support us, to conserve this world
During the first years of our engagement in Malawi, we have been asked many times to expand our family planning programme, which we started in December 2013. However, we were always aware that, despite your generous donations and also in view of possible further funding from the BMZ, we would not be able to accomplish this task to the extent and for the period of time that we consider urgently necessary.
As already reported several times, we had therefore already contacted PLAN Germany for the first time more than 3 years ago and persistently pursued it in the following period in order to stimulate a cooperation of our organisations in the field of SRH and thus to be able to continue the goals of our projects on a broader basis and on a larger scale within the framework of a cooperation.
In July 2018, the planning phase for such a cooperation project with PLAN was started, focusing on the goal of "sexual and reproductive health education for children and adolescents in Mzimba". In the meantime, the goals and individual measures of this project have been defined in detail, the local partner organisations have been selected, the budget has been calculated and a project coordinator has been appointed. Thus, the operational phase could also be started at the beginning of December 2018.

At the beginning of March 2019, PLAN conducted a project and donor´s trip to Malawi under the leadership of the Managing Director of the Foundation Hilfe mit PLAN, Ms Kathrin Hartkopf. During this trip, intensive discussions about our project were held on site, both with PLAN Malawi staff and with the staff of the local project partners in Mzimba District.
George Milinyu and Martin Chirambo, both employees of the PLAN office in Mzuzu, emphasise that the declared aim of the project is to significantly reduce the high number of teenage pregnancies (currently 36% of all girls and young women in Mzimba become pregnant as teenager).
Thoko Lusinje, PLAN's project manager in the capital office in Lilongwe, wants Plan Malawi to be known in the country not only for their engagment for girls and education, but also as a competent partner for sexual and reproductive health and all related issues. This will contribute significantly to making the objectives of our commitment known beyond the project regions included so far.
Up to now, we have been able to provide a total amount of 65,000 euros for this project. Please help us with your donations so that we can significantly exceed this amount.
